Kiuchi Hideonobu in Conventions

It's bad enough that I'm not anywhere near Fanime which will be held on Memorial Day weekend, May 23-26. But hearing about Kiuchi-san guesting in SMASH! on August 2 in Australia added insult to injury.

For a while there I seriously entertained the notion of going there since Australia is so much nearer to the Philippines and the date is far enough away that I can actually plan it. Of course I don't even have a passport, much less a visa. Not to speak of the expense the flight over would cost. I have some relatives and friends over there so I'm hoping I can stay over, but really now, let's be practical here. All that expense for one seiyuu? I probably would have given in had that seiyuu been Hoshi-kun. The fact that I'm seriously contemplating this speaks volumes at how much of a fan I've become of Kiuchi-san.

Ah well, maybe next year I can save up enough and treat myself to one of those NeoRomance events. Too late to plan again this year :/ April-May seems to be a particularly busy time for me what with all the birthdays and holidays, made even more so this year by newfound friends.

Hoshi's birthday is fast approaching too and while I have some ideas knocking around, I have yet to make any plans whatsoever. And the other thing I had in mind requires too much time and energy that I currently do not have. Hontou ni gomen ne, Hoshi-kun, will try to do better soon T_T

[Drama CD] Special A and Jungle King

Watched a bit of the Special A anime and when I was looking over Hoshi's roles on his site, found that he voiced one of the twins in the drama cd so had to listen to it. His twin sister doesn't talk so he sometimes talks for her. She just writes on a board or something so all we hear is the sound of the marker pen writing. I was so amused however when I saw in the booklet that her seiyuu was listed as ??? LOL, I wonder if they do the same in the anime now hahahaha, that would be so funny.

Read Jungle King awhile back just because it was by Sakurai Shushushu, mangaka of Vibrator Company and other ridiculously idiotically smutty works. And when I found out they'd just released a drama cd for it I HAD to check it out. I could not stop snerking to myself as I listened to this and had to stop because I was in a cab at the time XD I LOLed so much when Morikawa Toshiyuki started speaking in halting caveman talk. He kept saying "Gao. Gao." XDDDD Hilarious drama :D And the seiyuu talk at the end where they talked about the GARRURURU-ing. LOL.

They also have avi but not sure if they will be releasing for all episodes. And [Shinsen-subs] tends to be inconsistent in size and file type release, and sadly their video quality is never good. Just saw that [Animanda] also works on this.

Has anyone else watched the dvd only episode of Darker Than Black? I didn't even know there was one planned until the subs for it came out.

In any case, episode 26 is more of an extra episode than anything. On the filler side with two fangirls featuring heavily. Still rather amusing overall, especially the fanfic writer Mayu Mayu. Lol, that's her screen name.

So the story goes like this, fanfic writer gets sort of rescued while she's on her way home from a co-worker drinking outing. And all she remembers is the "delicious" collar of her savior.

The next day she meets the otaku fangirl (that pink-haired girl with the hapless detective) and they eventually got to talking. The subject of delicious collars came up and fangirl tells her she knows one, too. So she drags fanfic writer to a ramen shop where Li frequents. Apparently, Li was the collar's she wanted to show off. (Exhibit A -->)

I still can't stop laughing everytime I think about Hei/Li's "delicious" collar XD I would not be surprised if this singlehandedly starts a collar fetish among rabid fangirls.

Seriously, in the first place Hei never wears anything like that, his usual undershirt covers his collar. Apparently it's to protect ~~his virginity~~ the deliciousness of his collar XDDDD This seriously slayed me.

playing catch up on anime

I ran out of Gundam 00 episodes (3 more to go, damn) so I finally started watching Code Geass. Yeah I know I know. Am up to episode 3.

I like Suzaku.

I see now why this is such a big hit. Though I have mixed feelings about Lelouch (too brilliant) and the anime in general (too fast paced). Seems to be too much of a good thing. Will see how it goes from here. Hoping to catch up so I can watch the next season. But hope not to do so in one sitting.

Trying to pace myself and watch a variety of other titles instead of getting sucked into doing marathons again. Feel like watching Shounen Onmyouji, and mix in an episode or two of Dennou Coil, Oh! Edo Rocket, and Persona.

I see a lot of interesting titles for this season. What is it with me and Spring Anime season? Or is Spring Japan's version of the U.S. Fall season where all new and great shows premier?

Would love to hear what you guys plan to watch this season. Was gonna make my list but don't wanna go there yet.

Not having the bandwidth to check them all out is gonna drive me crazy this season. This is probably why it's the best time to catch up on my manga, less bandwidth needed for those.

If last year had me watching a LOT of anime, I'm hoping this year proves to be more productive on the manga front.

Off to a good start so far and looks like I'm in the mood to pick up a lot of the series I let go due to impatience at the next release and other distractions.

I think a new arc was just starting with a little girl when I left this. The new season of the anime reminded me that I rather enjoyed this series. That and I finally got around to reading Tsubasa.

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles
Just started reading this. Always been curious about how this links to Holic. Also curious about Kurogane. Skimmed through the first season of the anime and read the manga afterwards. Surprised to see that the anime is mostly consistent with the manga, which sadly not the case for Holic.

These two are supposed to be reaching their final arc so looks like it's a good time to be catching up to them.

Other stuff I plan to catch up on D.Gray-man, Bleach, Naruto (that last one probably not for awhile). I tend to go for Shounen series. Sadly, these are the ones that end up being so long running :/ And I tend to get tired of waiting for the next chapter to come out. It's also harder for me to keep track of the plot/storyline unless I read these continuously that's why I drop them when I get fed up.

Oh, and I need to get back to Vagabond and Blade of the Immortal. Hear an anime is coming out for the latter. Hope they don't do that too badly.

And just so I can say Reborn! isn't the only thing I'm reading these days XD

Game On! Ryohei, TYL! Yamamoto not so much

I think there's been enough talk about his box animal and gloves. So allow me to fangirl over the man himself. Basically when it comes to Ryohei I tend to notice the littlest things. These two panels in particular in chapter 186 are my favorites.

Ryohei says a lot of notable things in this chapter which shows his maturity as well as how some things will never change where he's concerned. Even the name of his box animal, while initially sounding like Engrish, actually has a very meaningful name. I seriously can't wait for the chapters to come.

I would have made an accompanying screencap for TYL!Yamamoto in the latest anime episode if he didn't look like a friggin' ossan. He looked like a vampire when Gokudera punched him, and not in a sexy way :E I swear the animators have lots of love where Gokudera is concerned but absolutely zero love for Yamamoto, tyl or otherwise. And did they just reveal Yamamoto's box animal too soon? I don't remember seeing it that early in the manga.

Sorry, no need to adjust your clocks or anything. I just meant it's gonna be MY last post for this year since I'll be netless most likely til the new year. I wish the internet people would hurry up and give me net at home already. Ah well, more time to do what I really should be doing during my netless weeklong ~~hiatus~~ holiday vacation. Not that I've been posting much.

Anyways, I've been collecting a lot of anime the past couple of years and I never really had time to watch most of them. This year I made time and ended up finishing a lot of series both old and new. It also marks the first time I actively followed a season of new shows as they aired in Japan, which would not be possible without the tireless efforts of all the fansubbers out there. If I had the kind of magic Giselle in Enchanted had where you can have anything mailed to anyone by just saying who it's for, I'd send each and everyone of you Christmas Cards. And I haven't picked up a card in years.

I can't remember them all or I'd list them down but I did talk about some of them at some point so that should be good enough. Since most of the spring series I follow ended, I haven't kept up with anything other than Ghost Hound. It's a good thing that very few series interest me this season or I would be even more swamped. I plan to get caught up with Gurren-Lagann, Dennou Coil, some newer ones like Moyashimon and Neuro, and maybe even Shounen Onmyouji over the holidays.

Somewhere in there I plan to get at least one translation work done. Yeah =_= As well as several other million things I wish I could do like make a detailed information manga site listing what characters are in what titles mostly for Naono Bohra. I'm really crazy over here these days. Her and Takanaga Hinako. I'm hoping to channel all this energy into something productive like that. Also coz it's so hard to keep track of character names and who's in where and what this title is about without visual aids. So yeah, I can dream XD

Ok I forgot what else I was gonna say, oh yeah ignore the mess that is my layout please. It didn't come out the way I wanted it so right now I'm still undecided on what template I'd like to use.

I'm babbling like a drunken idiot coz I haven't had decent sleep in ages. So anyways I don't remember if I have anything else to say so I'll end it here.

Spring 2007 Aftermath

After finishing up the typesetting for Aisarete mo Inai for BAA, I pretty much avoided my flist until I got caught up on my anime watching (wanted to avoid spoilers as much as possible). Sorry if I missed anything important.

Decided to dedicate myself to ending a bunch of series this weekend...

Darker Than Black
The last few episodes were really good, especially the South American flashback and the Hei/Pai moments. Not too clear on the ending and how his choices contributed to it, but at least we finally get an explanation for what and how Hei came by his powers.

Seirei no Moribito
Was able to watch this thanks to recent acquisition that is Ushi♥ (details and pics later). Man this was an excellent series. And loads of gorgeous gorgeous landscape artwork. I'm seriously in love with the background art. My only complaint is (if you can call it that) Tanda is such a patient and understanding wife til the very end XD Balsa had better come back, I refuse to believe otherwise :E

Bokurano
Again a series with a lot of explanations given at the end that satisfied me, though it was sad to see so much of the ugly side of humanity :/ The last battle was really weird though because it was unnecessarily drawn out for the theatrics of it.

Other series that I finished watching but not during the weekend were...

Lovely Complex
Best love/comedy shoujo series since Ouran Host Club. I'm gonna miss this show the most T_T It made me laugh and cry and curse and squee the most this season. Oh and, EPIDOSE 21!!! MaiKO, SuzuKO, and HaruKO XDDDDD This is one series whose manga I'd love to have and read in Chinese T_T

Claymore
Best action series this season, surpassing even Darker Than Black because of the steady and consistent escalation in plot and action. DtB was good but it just wasn't consistent especially during the middle. And to think I only checked out Claymore because of Kuwashima Houko. I'm so glad I did, she was excellent here, especially when she kept lowering her voice to sound male *_* I still think they should have done away with Raki's character.

The only series I haven't finished for Spring 2007 is Tenggen Toppan Gurren-Lagann and Romeo X Juliet. Still waiting for subbers of choice to finish them.

As for Heroic Age, haven't gone beyond the first 3 episodes to know if it'll continue to interest me. That and Shinsen is still playing catch up with it. Dropped El Cazador ages ago because absolutely nothing was happening, eventhough I was reluctant to do so (Miyano's char was so amusing :3). With Koutetsu Sangokushi, since the subs stalled, by the time they came back I wasn't really interested enough to resume. Who knows, maybe later for the sake of completing it. But if I find it boring I'd probably stop for good.

Now that I'm done with so many Spring series, I'll post about what I think of the Fall season next.

I seriously seriously SERIOUSLY want the Gaiden volumes T_T I only have the first volume with the regular cover and I want a copy of the one with the different cover. Why are there different covers again?

Anyways, there is now a volume 3 of Gaiden ;_; athena8 was kind enough to post the covers over here (warning: very image heavy). OMG THE FRONT COVER WITH SANZO CARRYING GOKU!!! AND THE GOKU COLOR INSERT IN THE TABLE OF CONTENTS PAGE!!!

Weeks ago I was browsing through the saiyuki comm and ended up checking out the fics over at springkink. As I don't really read much fic and don't really ship that many couples, naturally I ended up checking out the saiyuki fics, specifically the Sanzo/Goku ones. Found a couple that I liked enough to rec. Note these are yaoi fics.

- I've probably mentioned this before but putting it here in case I forget where to find it again. Amusing yet believable theory on Goku's first time. Nothing explicit though, just a prelude to what happens next.

And now I flail because I can't for the life of me find the fic I so wanted to rec in the first place. I've been trying to remember how I found it and the closest I can remember is either someone mentioned the fic in a comment to someone's rec, or someone recced it in this comm where really good fanfic is recced. But I can't remember the comm T_T

The fic in question is a really good sort of AU fic where the guys keep getting reincarnated and meeting up in some kind of limbo area. And the best part about it is that Goku is not there (since he's trapped for 500 years) and Sanzo keeps looking for him every time! Another one is possibly the only Hakkai/Gojyo/Goku threesome fic ever. Also recced in that comm I think. Not a fan of this threesome (or any threesome for that matter) but this one actually worked.

Ugh I'm made of so much fail T_T I really can't remember and I've been looking and looking and looking through comms and user profiles. GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAA~ But it's getting late and I should be getting home. So if anyone has even a remote idea of what I'm talking about, any help or pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I'm one of those people who can't let something go until they remember it, so please take pity XDD

weekend of watching

Didn't get a chance to watch Gurren-Lagann after all. Why do they have to release in mp4 format anyway T_T Black Order released only up to the episode I'd already seen. Ah well, will try to get in early Monday so I can catch up then.

Was able to clear a lot of work backlog though so I'm pretty happy about that. Tried to read manga but too out of it to concentrate now.

So my plan for the weekend is NOT to finish watching Juuni Kokki XD

Watching Seirei no Moribito reminded me of it and I was able to get the remaining episodes I was missing. I see some missing cds though, I hope they're just misplaced. Will find out when I get home. If the cds really are missing then I wouldn't have a choice. I wouldn't be able to marathon like I feared anyway.

After that I'll move on to where I left off at Gun X Sword (stopped at episode 16 which was where shinsen stalled). Though Juuni Kokki will (hopefully, for my eyes sake) take awhile since I'll be watching from the start.

Wish I had time to get some stuff done for Hoshi's birthday. It's almost here and I haven't prepared anything T_T Anyways off I go. Have a good weekend everyone!

Man, been whipped at work and at home the past couple of days. I hardly ever do anything but sleep in between.

Taking a quick break to show off a Saiyuki poster I got from Comic Alley. It's a print of the Saiyuki guys, see preview below.

Loved this pic when I saw it, not just the sepia tone but the casual rocker look for all was great. I never thought anything would beat the one with the guys lying on top of autumn leaves.

And what is up with Goku and berets? Is it because it suits him or a cop out from having to draw his hair? I should think Hakkai's would be harder. Though I may be wrong since it seems to be Minekura's most common hairstyle. Another favorite is this pic of them like photgraphic portraits in a gallery where Goku also wears a beret. Man, I really want to write fic about these photo shoot like images.

Also got a really cute Alphonse keychain with him holding a kitty in his arms :D Found it inside the SM Department Store, not at Comic Alley where the keychain prices are highway robbery. I had to have it coz it reminded me of that episode where Al hid the kitty inside his armor and Ed only found out when meowing noises started issuing from Al XDDD

Ok, back to work for me.

The goal is to clear some backlog and then watch Gurren-Lagann. And hopefully still have time to post another entry. Waaah, I wish I had time to read manga, too T_T If you don't see anything in a few hours then that means I was too tired and just went home XD Here goes...

Hei's Power

Logging this before I get swallowed up in work again. Still behind on my anime watching, only watched DtB 4 and LoveCom 2-3 last night. More on LoveCom later.

Got Mishicorp's release of DtB ep4 because they have avi releases and their sub is good enough (though they screwed up with timing at one point but it wasn't all that significant). Still getting shinsen's when it comes out of course. I have absolutely no problem watching this a 3rd time XP

Interesting stuff about Contractor vs Moratorium. When it got to the part with Hei touching the doorknob and knocking out the guys on the other side, it finally dawned on me what Hei's power is. It's not static electricity, it's SHOCK WAVES. Still not sure what his payment is though, but there's a bit of an explanation about how payments and contracts work in this episode. My theory on vast amount of food intake still holds for now.

Mishicorp has the same blurred video as Shinsen, probably due to recoding. Added theirs in the screencap comparison. They used a different broadcast though so there's no earthquake alert text on their version. Both my raws have those alerts and I really hated how they appeared in Hei's scenes and blocked his face. You can see what I mean in the screencaps above. Left is CP-Raws, right is Mishicorp.

Damn it all I don't wanna have to look for another raw copy of this episode but I've been thinking of compiling clips for all the Hei/action scenes and want clean copies. Arrrr :E

DtB screencaps and Waiting for OP/ED Singles

Seriously. I know I'm just being impatient here but it feels like all the OP and ED singles have come out except for the ones I want. At least someone was kind enough to give me a copy of the full version of HOWLING. Anyone know if that song was made especially for Darker Than BLACK? There's more words spoken in the full version intro, and I quote:

A night sky full of cries
Hearts filled with lies
The contract, is it worth the price?
A soul pledged to the darkness

Now I've lost it
I know I can kill
The truth is just beyond the Gates(?)

It speaks of the contract being worth the price and truth beyond the Gates. Coincidence or contrived?

Speaking of which, I was initially getting the DtB raws from CP-Raws but switched to Saiyaman because their quality was pretty good and size isn't too big either. Keeping raws since the video quality in the SHS subs are on the blurry side. Thought I'd compare the raws before I deleted the CP version and found that the colors are more vivid in their capture.

Monster 62-70

Only four more episodes to go! I liked the contrast shown in these two scenes. It's the same view before and after the paranoia and mass hysteria infects the quiet little town of Ruhenheim.

I really should have continued watching this as the subs came out. It's exhausting to watch this series in one go. Sucks the life out of you ^^;; And while part of me will be sad and miss Tenma when it ends, part of me will be relieved when it's over.

Monster 57-61

Devoting my time to finishing Monster this week. Watching one disc per day and I'm down to the last 3 discs. Thought I'd be watching 4 eps at a time but miscalculated because some discs had 5 eps, like today's batch.

Still, did my best to be a good girl and not overuse my eyes too much. Watched 3 eps wth lots of gazing afar in between. Then took a shower before continuing with the last 2 on the disc. The recent bout of marathon watching over the weekend strained my eyes so much that the constant eye headaches have returned. So I'm taking it easy til the headaches go away.

This is Martin. Didn't have time to find a better pic to show how very sad his eyes are. He doesn't have Tenma's beaten look, just sad sad eyes. So many memorable characters in Monster and I wanted to take a moment to remember this man who was tasked to protect Eva and who later ends up falling for her. He only appears in episodes

spring 2007 anime to follow

Here's what made it on my list, order from most favorite to least. Highly recommend everyone to check out the first four.

Hayate no Gotoku - Continues to be my top favorite for the season and remains consistently so even after four episodes. I had no expectations for this whatsoever and was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it turned out. I hope the jokes never get old for me.

Darker Than Black - Delivers exactly the kind of stuff I look for be it in anime or live action. If Hayate is the best comedy for the season, DtB is the best action/sci-fi/mystery of the season. I had high expectations coming into this and it did not let me down, so that's saying a lot.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - Extremely enjoyable series because of Konishi Katsuyuki's portrayal of Kamina. This is a typical coming of age shounen adventure with elements of crack thrown in. Watch the first episode and if you don't like it, don't bother watching the rest. Though I strongly suggest you check out the second episode because of the appearance of an extremely gay character. Seriously, the things he say make you go o_O And that's before you realize who voices him.

Lovely Complex - Another series I was looking forward to because the premise sounded really promising. A really good romantic comedy shoujo along the lines of Ouran Host Club.

Claymore - This series continues to surprise me each week with its depth story- and character-wise. Don't let the first episode fool you into thinking this is just a hack and slash monster hunting anime. There is so much more here and I look forward to how things develop.

Heroic Age - Sophisticated battleships aren't really my thing but Age's innocence and antics keep this interesting enough to follow. Still not sure what to make of it, but it hasn't bored me yet.

Bokurano - Eerie and highly intriguing, mindfuck anime of the season. It would be interesting to see how these kids deal with the burden of saving the world.

Shining Tears X Wind - Watching this solely for the Hoshi-love. It plays like an RPG game which may not appeal to everyone, whether your a gamer or not.

Koutetsu Sangokushi (?) - Another anime that looks like a game. After two episodes, still not sure what to make of this series. Will continue to watch this for the amount of seiyuu talent alone. Only time will tell if that will be enough to keep me interested.

El Cazador de la Bruja (?) - Still not sure what to make of this series. May continue to watch if there's nothing else on my plate.

Overdrive (?) - Can't say as I'm impressed with how the protagonist gets roped into being a bicyclist. Intrigued enough about the other characters to continue watching but last on my list of priorities.

Will also check out Romeo X Juliet just to see what everyone on my flist is talking about. Still intrigued about SKULLMAN but have a feeling it might disappoint me now that DtB is proving to be such a cool series.

Wow, that's a lot to follow this season. Was gonna ask if anyone wants to recommend anything but I don't think I have room for more. Didn't expect to watch so much of the new stuff. Hope I can keep up with the lot. Music post to follow.

Inoue Weekend

Before I get swallowed up in work, sharing some random thoughts thanks to my weekend of anime watching...

Finally finished Ouran (was stubbornly waiting for Solar XD) and while I'm really sad that the anime has ended, I liked how they ended it. Inoue Kazuhiko as Tamaki's dad!!! He used a deeper voice here but a bit of his trademark husky flirty voice filtered through so I was able to recognize him.

Could not stop laughing at the PINEapple logo on Kyouya's laptop XDDD

Speaking of funny, in Bokurano's 2nd episode, Ishida Akira is a cranky stuffed toy who calls himself Dung Beetle XDDD

It seems I cannot spend the weekend without marathoning anything despite my best intentions. Ended up marathoning Legend of Basara. I'd seen it years ago but the copy I borrowed had a lot of problems so I wasn't able to watch it in full. Thanks to hyukta, I was finally able to do so. Did not know that Inoue Kazuhiko was in it until I started watching. He's just so cool and perfect as Shuri *melt* Now I need to get my hands on the manga because I NEED TO KNOW what happens next ;_;

Also watched episode 1 of Earthian and this time DID NOT recognize Inoue at all o_O Til now, I still don't believe that blonde angel is him despite seeing the credits. He sounds totally different. Nothing distinct about his voice at all.

Yeah without planning to, I ended up watching a lot of Inoue this weekend. Shuri~~~♥

And now I go get my fix of mocha for the day. Hopefully more on the current season later.

Well, I got my username by coining the words "mocha" and "holic" together since I'm such an addict of the stuff. I mean there's alcoholic and chocoholic, so I thought, why not mochaholic? Gotta clarify though that I mean the coffee concoction regularly known as caffe mocha (espresso and chocolate mix) and not the flavor. Thus all the coffee themed usericons XD I'm nothing if not OC consistent.

might watch anime for spring 2007

Whilst stalking tokyotosho for any sign of Hoshi's latest anime, saw a bunch of first episode raws and fansubs. Had time to check some out and here are my impressions.

When I read the premise for Heroic Age, I thought it might be kinda cool but I never really intended to watch if Bruised-Ichigo didn't release it so soon. Was very impressed with the quality of their debut work, what with all the space ship commands and details they had to deal with. As for the anime, the production was very well done and the landscape backgrounds were amazing. May continue watching but only because the green-eyed, long-haired, wild looking guy (pic above) was adorable. Too bad they'll be cutting his hair later.

El Cazador de la Bruja is another title that Bruised-Ichigo released. And just because I liked the group I decided to check it out. I liked the spunky bounty hunter girl, Nadi. You can't really see it clearly in the pic but I loved her jewel hair accessory thing. Also loved her outfit of a poncho covering tank top and short shorts with gun holster and boots. It's so very western but put together really well and quite cool really. The other girl, Ellis, was also cute with her unapologetic frankness. Plus she had interesting powers. May keep watching just to see where it goes.

A fansub was already out for Claymore. Took a look because dude big sword, action genre, and Kuwashima Houko. Not bad, but not all that great either. Didn't like the anime art so much. Will continue to watch to see how it develops but may not archive unless the next episodes/story progression impress me.

Saw raws for Xenoglossia and Polyphonica and grabbed them just because of the interesting titles. Glanced through a bit of Polyphonica and was put off by the big boobed girl. Though I found the guy she was with interesting enough. Turns out girl is really young and not that well-endowed and becomes older (i.e. big boobed) when she transforms. Guy turned out to be voiced by Kamiya Hiroshi (Saionji Kaouru). Totally did not recognize him. Most likely not watching this unless I have nothing else to watch. Also not watching Xenoglossia since it bored me with all the female characters and no interesting guy in sight. Sorry but most harem-like anime turn me off, unless the harem happens to be made up of guys ^^;;

Curious about Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann only because I've recently become obsessed with Konishi Katsuyuki (Niwa ♥, Komui ♥♥). Still haven't watched this in full but love what I've seen of his character so far. Kamina's just such a big dorky warrior dude.

Checked out OverDrive because it was about bicycle competition, but the first ep had none of that and was mostly an intro piece for the main character. Not having the benefit of subs made it a boring watch. But the OP and ED showed some rather interesting cyclists, particularly the black-haired guy in shades and the redhead. Will most likely check this out once the subs show up since I wanna know more about the other characters.

Lovely Complex also looks interesting but haven't seen any of it. Will most likely wait for subs to show up before I do since I'll be able to appreciate it better when I actually understand what's being said, as opposed to relying solely on visuals with action-oriented anime.

Trying to cut down on the anime hoarding so unless I really like the series or the seiyuu, most likely not archiving any of the stuff I mentioned here. But the ones on my must watch list are gonna be saved for sure.

must watch anime for spring 2007

Of the new batch of anime coming out this season, other than the two with Hoshi in it (Shining Tears x Wind and Bokurano), only two others caught my attention.

The first was Darker Than Black. Cool title, interesting premise, dark theme that usually interests me. Later on I found out Kiuchi Hidenobu (Dr. Tenma, Oshitari) was in it and Yoko Kanno was doing the score(?). Wasn't all that impressed when I learned that Abingdon Boys School's (D.Gray-man OP) would do the theme. Was so-so on the D.Gray opening theme, eventhough it's now starting to grow on me. But damn did I like the OP for DtB when I heard it. So much so that I had to rip it and put on my playlist straightaway. Can't wait for the single to be released, coz 1:29 minutes is just not enough to get my fix of this song.

The other was THE SKULLMAN. It's not airing til April 28th but the premise had me interested. Again with the cool art and dark theme. See a pattern here?

Was gonna overlook Hayate no Gotoku at first because the prospect of watching butlers do combat just didn't sound appealing. Then randomly decided to check it out when I read the synopsis a second time. It seemed to have potential to be fun (and funny). Glad I did because this has got to be my favorite of the season apart from Darker Than Black. More on this later because it needs a post all it's own.
